Artist's Statement

I find that the energy, intensity, and rhythm in a piece of art are what inspire me. There is a certain otherness which connects with a greater sense of beauty and joy that I attempt to visualize. My work is not about a single aspect of art but about the dance of energetic color and composition magnifying the real world to show the beauty of creation.

The natural world and a strong spiritual connection to life have given me a reverence for the incredible beauty that is there. My goal in creating art is to find that energy (and sometimes humor) within the place, person, or thing which is its essence. The Dreamscape and Angels and Icons series are an attempt to honor my spiritual connection. I spend time sketching and sometimes making miniature paintings to get the composition and color the way I want it before beginning a larger scale work.
